Air quality incentive funds available for diesel truck conversion
Aug. 8, 2008 - - Heavy duty diesel truck operators have until September 5 to
apply for new funding available to help upgrade heavy-duty diesel engines or
trucks to lower emissions technology. Prop 1B, the Goods Movement Emission
Reduction Program, provides incentives to upgrade to cleaner technologies
through truck replacement, engine replacement, or filter retrofit. These
available funds could help transporters of goods on the state’s highways
transition to lower emissions technology in advance of proposed new state rules
for on-road heavy-duty diesel truck engines. Available funds include $50,000 to
replace a 2003 or older truck with a new truck that meets 2007 emissions
standards; $20,000 to replace 2003 or older engines with a new engine that meets
2007 standards; or $5,000 to retrofit a 2006 or older truck with an ARB-verified
level-3 diesel particulate filter. Handlers and haulers should confirm the terms
of the funding to be sure they qualify. For more information on the incentive
program, call the SJV Air Pollution Control District at (800) 766-4463 or log on
to the “Grants and Incentives” section at
