CDFA reinstates dairy administrative assessment fees
The CDAF announced it is reinstating as of Oct. 1, 2010 administrative assessment fees on Grade A market milk and Grade B manufacturing milk sold in commercial trade channels. The fees are used to fund the operations of the Dairy Marketing Branch. At the October 2009 meeting of the Dairy Advisory Committee,  the DMB reported it has a sufficient balance to suspend collecting the fees until the balance was drawn down to a three-month reserve. The advisory council agreed and fees were suspended as of Jan. 1, 2010. With the branch projecting that its recommended three-month reserve level will be reached soon, the DMB is recommending the collection of fees be reinstated effective Oct. 1.  More information is available at http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/dairy/.
