Wireless Helps Dairy with Milk, Ice Cream Deliveries

Foster Farms Dairy has begun a rollout of more than 200 of Motorola's MC 9500 rugged handhelds to delivery drivers who serve as sales personnel at individual stores in central California who buy its milk, ice cream and other dairy products. The new handhelds, which replace older DOS-based gear that was getting hard to service, were chosen after the dairy's delivery workers were asked what equipment and software they preferred, said Tom Vander Weide, vice president of supply chain and technology for the dairy operation. <more> July 14, 2010 CIO.com
